Photo mode is a special feature of games that many of us love. On the one hand, it allows you to capture unforgettable moments while you play, perfect for a game like Republic of the Cavaliers. Whether you’re doing tons of tricks or just browsing in Zen Mode, you’ll want to know how to unlock and use Photo Mode.
Complete the tutorial to open photo mode
Photo mode is not available at the start of your Republic of the Cavaliers campaign. Instead, you will be treated a fairly long tutorial on mechanics and activities. You will participate in various bike and ski races. You will even participate in air races while carrying a jetpack.
From there, you’ll learn the ins and outs of Riders Republic, like performing tricks, accumulating points, and earning stars.
There are seven stages here, and the last one requires you to collect 11 stars. For this objective, you can just look at the optional challenges in the races. Since you only need one star, just pick something that is manageable (i.e. getting a certain number of points by completing tricks).
Once you have 11 stars, you will be asked to return to Rider crest. Another short tutorial follows, explaining the various functions and matchmaking activities in this area. Then you are suddenly done. The sandbox is fully open and photo mode is finally unlocked.
How to use photo mode
To use photo mode in Republic of the Cavaliers, simply press left on the D-pad to bring up the tool wheel. Once you have selected photo mode, your game will be paused and you can check the available tabs.
There are various options that can be changed, such as your filter, depth of field (DOF), time of day, position of the sun in the sky (i.e. casting shadows) , weather effects, light, etc.
To take a photo, just press the corresponding button. This image will be shared, including with those who play on other platforms if you have enabled the setting. If you are on PC, you can just press the back / select button to hide the user interface. Then press your Ubisoft Connect hotkey for screenshots (i.e.F12).
Finally, don’t forget that the photo mode in Republic of the Cavaliers is very limited, at least compared to what we’ve seen from other Ubisoft offerings. Since this is a competitive online game, you cannot use it in the middle of races. You can only use it when roaming free. Oh, and it’s also not available if you try Zen Mode (you’ll want to turn off the HUD in the Accessibility Options tab if you want less clutter in your screenshots).
And that’s all you need to know about how to unlock and use photo mode in Riders Republic. Now you can commemorate your best tricks, whether you’re on one of the game’s many bikes and doing a wheelie or riding a wingsuit air race. For more tips and tricks, be sure to visit our dedicated guides hub.
